An Eckley man has been hospitalized with injuries stemming from smoke inhalation following a fire at his Eckley residence, Thursday around the noon hour.

According to a family member’s posting on Facebook, Kelly Korf was in the residence located north of the railroad tracks in Eckley. He reportedly suffered smoke inhalation and burns to his lungs. He was transported to the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, where he was in the ICU. He has since been released and is back in the Yuma area staying with family.

Eckley Fire Chief Tyler Shell said the fire’s origin was in the back bedroom, and the modular was a total loss. He said investigators from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation were scheduled to arrive Friday to try to determine the cause. Shell reported earlier this week that a cause had not been determined yet.

Eckley and Yuma volunteer fire departments responded to the fire.
