Life Care celebrates therapy successes
Yuma Life Care Center (YLCC) is celebrating therapy successes, and will be rolling out a series of success stories showcasing local residents and their work with the therapy department at YLCC, both inpatient and outpatient.
Rehabilitation services at YLCC are aimed at the goal of returning each patient to their best possible level of function and to improve their quality of life. Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy are available to all residents who require rehabilitation serviced, as well as community members who seek specific rehab services as outpatients.
YLCC’s therapists seek to evaluate and treat any underlying impairments causing disabilities. Trained to administer Accelerated Care Plus (ACP), their therapists can treat a diverse range of patients and conditions and enhance quality of life through specialized equipment such as Electrotherapy and Shortwave Diathermy.
Full-time therapy staff at YLCC includes Rehab Program Manager and Occupational Therapist (OT) Jeanette Brown and Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Jennifer Garza.
Brown was born and raised in Pontiac, MI and graduated with a masters of Occupational Therapy from Baker College Center for Graduate Studies in Flint, MI in 2014. After graduation, Brown pursued travel occupational therapy which took her to Texas and Colorado. She enjoyed the atmosphere and surrounding communities and decided to relocate to Yuma, where she has been now for 3 years. In her personal time, Brown enjoys being outside, doing yoga, and completing continuing education courses to further her knowledge and better serve the community.
Garza grew up in south Texas and moved to Eastern Colorado in 1998. She earned her degree from Morgan Community College, and has been a PTA for 13 years, all which have been with Yuma Life Care Center. Garza enjoys the various diagnoses she treats with inpatient and outpatient therapy. She also enjoys incorporating yoga, stretches and various manual therapy techniques in her treatments. Garza is always looking into new techniques and furthering her education. When not working, Garza enjoys adventures with her three children and husband Michael.
In addition to the full-time therapy staff, YLCC employs a Physical Therapist (PT), Speech Therapist (ST) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
