The Yuma community sadly suffered a loss late last week as a Yuma man lost his life in a one-vehicle accident in Logan County.

Leonard Snelling, 86, was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Sterling Regional Medical Center, Friday May 12.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Snelling was driving a pickup southbound on Logan County Road 93, near Road 66, when it ran off the left side of the road and rolled three-quarter time while impacting a barb wire fence. Snelling was extricated and taken to the Sterling hospital.

He was the only occupant in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.

The state patrol stated the crash is still under investigation, but it does not appear excessive speed or driver impairment were involved.

A funeral service was held Wednesday of this week, May 17, at First Presbyterian Church.
