The Otis Bulldogs have once again earned themselves a spot in Class 1A State Tournament to be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Denver Coliseum. The first game for the Bulldogs will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. against the winner of the Walsh-Fleming match played earlier in the day.

The Bulldogs are the second seed in the 1A field, behind only Kit Carson. The state tournament has been changed to a three-day event, utilizing the double-elimination “Olympic Crossover” format.

The Region C Tournament was held in Otis last Friday, November 2.

The first match for Otis was against the Idalia Wolves. It was a very well-played match for the home team minus the first set. The lady Bulldogs had a slow start, and the Wolves took advantage of it. But true to the time-worn style of the Bulldogs, they won the next three sets to win the match. The scores were 17-25, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-16.

Becca Bleak made 13 kills, one block and two digs. MaKenna Metzler made 11 kills, one block and one dig. Sydney Reynolds made one kill, one ace, 15 assists and six digs. Riley Brandon made two digs. Apryl Tolson made seven kills. Anthoneya Schaffert made three aces and 16 digs. Annalise Glosson made one kill, two blocks, 23 assists and one dig. Ruby Halcomb made 11 kills, two blocks and one dig. Rachel Patterson made one ace, one assist and six digs.

Just one more win for the Bulldogs to make it to the Big Dance. The win came against the Elbert Bulldogs. Elbert really didn’t stand a chance against the home town Bulldogs. It was a quick and easy three set match. The scores were 25-16, 25-10 and 25-16.

Bleak made nine kills. Metzler made 11 kills and one block. Reynolds made two aces, 15 assists and three digs. Brandon made one kill and one dig. Tolson made four kills.
