Freshman Alivia Weathers had a great effort at the Class 4A Gymnastics Meet, last weekend at Thornton High School.

The freshman at Lone Star, and Yuma resident, qualified for the finals in the beam, placing 10th out of 71 competitors in the 4A meet.

She finished 14th in the All-Around with 34.500 points, out of 35 who had qualified to compete in the All-Around. Weathers was 28th in the Floor exercise with a score of 8.675, 27th in the Uneven Bars with an 8.200, and 16th in the Vault with a 8.800.

Weathers improved her scores as she entered the postseason, including a strong performance the week before in the regional meet. She started the season with one other teammate on the Lone Star team, but spent most of the season competing alone as an injury early in the season ended it for her teammate.
