Several athletes from area Class 1A schools will be competing in the Class 1A Track and Field Championships, this week at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
It is the first state championships since the rain-shortened event in 2019.
Arickaree/Woodlin’s Hayden Page and Jacob Jefferson both are in the 800-meter run on Friday. Both also are in the 400-meter dash on Saturday. Jefferson is in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles on Saturday.
The Lone Star boys are in the 4-by-800 relay on Friday. Running for the Longhorns will be Abraham Martinez, Dakoda Cox, Ethan Glenn and Brady Kuntz. Kuntz and Martinez will be in the pole vault on Saturday. Alivia Weathers is in the 100-meter and 300 meter hurdles on Saturday. The Lone Star girls are in the 4-by-100 relay on Saturday. Running for the Longhorns will be Andrea Kuntz, Idahly Martinez, Aleighcea Kuntz and Leah Kubitz. The foursome of Martinez, Cox, Glenn and Kuntz will be in the 4-by-800 relay on Friday.
Andrea Kuntz, Alison Davis, Martinez and Aleighcea Kuntz also will be in the 800 sprint medley today, June 24. Weathers also is in the triple jump on Friday. Weathers, Andrea Kuntz and Aleighcea Kuntz are in the pole vault today.
Otis’ boys are in the 4-by-800 relay on Friday. Running for the Bulldogs will be Taylor Ringlein, Jack Willeke, Sawyer Packer and Bohden Klinzmann. Otis’ Maddox Hisam is in the high jump on Saturday, while Ringlein will be in the pole vault. Peyton Wells is in the shot put on Thursday and the discus on Friday. Anthoneya Schaffert is in the pole vault today.
Stratton/Liberty’s girls are in the 4-by-200 relay on Friday, the 4-by-800 relay on Friday, and the 4-by-100 relay on Saturday. McKenna Notter is in the triple jump on Friday.
