The Otis High School track and field athletes will be in Yuma on Saturday after competing last Saturday in the Tom Meyer Akron Invitational.
The Bulldogs had several placing efforts in Akron.
Peyton Wells whipped the discus 123-7 to take first place. He was seventh in the shot put at 37-4.5. Sawyer Packer triple jumped 39-2.75 for second place. Maddox Hisam cleared 5-6 for third in the high jump, and Grady Bechtle placed eighth at 5-2. Packer was fifth in the long jump at 17-7, and Mitchell Stivers eighth at 16-9.5. Carter Wells cleared 8-6 for eighth in the pole vault.
In the open races, Stivers was third in the 400 in 59.06 seconds, and C. Wells took seventh in the 100 in 11.87 seconds.
Madelyn Willeke scored all of the Otis girls’ points. She was fourth in the pole vault at 8-0, fifth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 57.96 seconds, and eighth in the 100 hurdles in 19.32 seconds.
LONE STAR
Lone Star’s track and field athletes’ next action is Saturday in Yuma, after competing in the Tom Meyer Akron Invitational last Saturday.
Both the boys and girls teams picked up points in Akron.
Anderson Weathers was third in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.78 seconds, and seventh in the 300 hurdles in 50.24 seconds. Abraham Martinez placed sixth in the 100 dash in 11.82 seconds. The 4-by-100 relay team placed sixth in 49.05 seconds.
In the field events, Martinez was second in the pole vault at 10-6, Weathers third at 10-6, Grant Kuntz sixth at 10-0, and Ronnie Tandema seventh at 8-6. Wyatt Cochran put the shot 40-foot-8 for third. Kuntz placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 39-1.25.
For the girls, Jade Kuntz cleared 7-6 for sixth in the pole vault, and Aleighcea Kuntz was seventh at the same height. Kuntz was seventh in the triple jump at 28-0.25. The 4-by-100 relay team placed seventh in 1:03.48.
