Otis High School’s volleyball team is zeroing in on a high seed for the Class 1A regionals with three matches left in the regular season.
The Bulldogs are No. 5 in the 1A CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index with a 15-5 record. They are at Flagler today, October 24, and at Kit Carson on Tuesday. They close out the regular season at home November 2 against Eads.
Otis suffered a tough loss at No. 2 Idalia, getting swept in three sets. The Bulldogs never could get into any kind of rhythm against the Wolves. Statistics were not available.
The Bulldogs hosted Weldon Valley earlier last week, winning 25-21, 25-23, 25-21. Madelyn Willeke had 17 kills, Aedyn Tribehorn 15, Layce Perry four, Kensley Packer four, and Alexa Bencomo three. Crysten Goble recorded 38 setting assists. Otis served 93 percent. Tribelhorn was 28-29 with four aces, Madison Reynolds 13-14 with two aces, Lydia Willeke 12-12, M. Willeke 8-8, Goble 5-8, and Perry 3-3 with one ace. Packer was in on five total blocks.
LONE STAR VOLLEYBALL
Lone Star’s volleyball team is staying in contention for a regional berth.
The Longhorns are 12-10 and No. 21 in the Class 1A CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index with one match left, November 1 at Weldon Valley.
They rallied to beat Arickaree earlier last week at home in five sets, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-5. Jade Kuntz had 13 kills, Audrey Wade 10, Jaylin Weber 10, and Paityn Forry eight. Weber and Grace Cochran each had 17 setting assists. Cochran was 29-30 serving with five aces, Forry 16-17 with three aces, Weber 14-14 with two aces, Peytyn Kuntz 12-13 with one ace, J. Kuntz 11-12 with one ace, Aimee Trejo 9-10 with two aces, and Bryn Cook 6-9.
The Longhorns lost in three last Thursday at Briggsdale, 18-25, 10-25, 21-25. Statistics were not available.
They went 3-0 in a tournament last Saturday. First up was a five-set win over Caliche, 25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 22-25, 15-12. Statistics were not available. Lone Star beat Peetz in four, 21-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-10, then beat Springfield in four, 18-25, 25-19, 28-26, 25-21.

Arickaree Volleyball
The Arickaree volleyball team is 8-14 with one match left, November 2 at home against Cheraw.
The Bison lost a tough one at Lone Star earlier last week. They won the first two sets, 25-22, 25-23, only to see Lone Star win the last three, 20-25, 23-25, 5-15. Statistics were not available. Arickaree played at Genoa-Hugo/Karval last Saturday, losing in three, 22-25, 21-25, 10-25. Statistics were not available.
