The Otis High School volleyball team had won five of six heading into this past Tuesday’s match at highly-regarded Merino.
Otis entered this week 5-4 overall, and 2-0 in YWKC League matches, after picking up two league wins last week.
The Bulldogs are at a league match today, September 15, at Idalia.
They hosted Lone Star on September 6, winning 25-10, 25-12, 25-11. Madelyn Willeke had 18 kills, Aedyn Tribelhorn five, Kayce Perry four and Jaylin Weber four. Alli Hornung had 26 setting assists. Arlene Bencomo was 30-30 serving with six aces, Weber 11-11 with five aces, Hornung 11-11, Tribelhorn 7-7 with two aces, Hailey Stivers 7-7 wit one ace, Kylee Ballah 4-4 with one ace, and Perry 2-3. Tribelhorn and Bencomo led in digs with 14 each.
Otis hosted Hi-Plains on Friday, cruising to a 25-14, 25-7, 25-12 win. Willeke had 16 kills, Perry eight, Tribelhorn eight, Bencomo three, Weber two, and Destiny Henderson one. Hornung had 24 setting assists. Weber was 20-21 serving with four acces, Willeke 18-18 with two aces, Bencomo 13-16 with two aces, Tribelhorn 9-9 with three aces, Hornung 5-6 and Stivers 3-4. Bencomo had 21 digs, Weber 19, Hornung 14, and Tribelhorn 11.
LONE STAR
Lone Star’s volleyball team has a tough challenge today, September 15, as the Longhorns play at Fleming.
The team also is at Peetz on Tuesday.
Lone Star split its two matches last week.
It first lost in three sets at Otis on September 6, 10-25, 12-25, 11-25. Lone Star statistics were not available.
The Longhorns rebounded to claim a 3-0 win last Thursday at home over Deer Trail, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21. Lone Star stats were not available.
The Longhorns entered this week 3-6 overall, 0-1 in the YWKC League.
ARICKAREE
Arickaree’s volleyball team enters this week 10-2 overall, but fell to 1-1 in the YWKC League after a loss to Idalia on September 8.
The Bison played a non-league game at home against Wray this past Tuesday, September 13, and host Briggsdale on Friday, before traveling to Prairie on Tuesday. All are non-league.
They lost 13-25, 13-25, 20-25 to Idalia. Arickaree statistics were not available.
