The Arickaree/Woodlin football team likely is headed to the 6-man playoffs, though they face a serious challenge in the regular season finale.
The Indian Mustangs are at Idalia, Saturday afternoon. They are 5-3 overall, while Idalia is 6-2. Idalia is No. 4 in the 6-man Rating Percentage Index, while Arickaree/Woodlin is No. 8.
Arickaree/Woodlin secured a winning record in 2021 with a 59-22 home win over Peetz, last Friday night.
It was close early as the Indian Mustangs led just 6-0 in the first quarter, but they blew it open with a 27-0 second quarter and cruised from there.
They had 396 total yards on offense, including 313 rushing. Logan Wright ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries. Samuel Koolstra added 133 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, Bryce Shaffer 22 yards and a TD on two carries, Jake King 17 yards, and Estevan Ramirez three.
Wright completed both of his passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Koolstra had a 65-yard touchdown reception, and Ramirez one catch for 18 yards.
Wright had an interception that he returned 25 yards for a touchdown, and Shaffer had an interception. Wright was in on 11 total tackles, Koolstra 10, Nic Hermes six, Jacob Jefferson six, Shaffer five, Jake King five, Hayden Page four, Dillon Noletubby three, Ramirez three, Zarron Skubal two, and Connor Jesse two.
OTIS FOOTBALL
Otis will be looking for a .500 record when it closes out the regular season today, October 28, at Prairie.
The Bulldogs are 4-5 entering the game, while Prairie is 5-4. Prairie is in the playoff hunt as it sits at No. 9 in the 6-man RPI, while Otis has its work cut out sitting at No. 18.
Otis picked up its fourth win of the season with a 58-6 romp over Pawnee, last Saturday afternoon in Otis.
The Bulldogs quickly took care of business, racing out to a 46-0 lead in the first quarter.
Otis ran for 183 yards and passed for 72.
Sawyer Packer ran for 64 yards and a touchdown, Erick Thorn 62 yards and two touchdowns, Charlie Kendrick 32 yards and one TD, and Paxton Davis and Bohden Klinzmann 11 yards each. Carter Wells completed both of his passes for 65 yards and a two touchdowns, and Kendrick completed a seven-yard touchdown pass. Jack Willeke had two catches for 52 yards and two TDs, while Klinzmann had a 20-yard TD reception.
Defensively, Kendrick and Garrett Patterson both had an interception, and Willeke, Davis, Thorn and Mason Metzler each recovered a fumble. Jacob Perry was in on seven total tackles, Kendrick five, Peyton Wells five, Davis four, Klinzmann four, Taylor Ringlein four, Metzler three, Willeke two, Cayden Wood two, and Wyatt Reynolds, C. Wells, Eric Bintliss and Patterson one each.
