The 2020 Men’s Golf Leagues at Indian Hills Golf Course is beginning this week, though it will be under temporary guidelines until the COVID-19 issue subsides and orders are lifted.
Some of the guidelines are as follows: Thursday’s will not be a designated play day, matches will be allowed to be played by the following Wednesday. This not only helps maintain the golf course as there will be an increase in golf cart activity due to the one-rider rule, but it also helps in limiting the potential to congregate in mass groups during the day. Remember, one-rider per golf cart, unless a member of the same household.
Maintain 6 feet between players at all times. “Gimmies” are acceptable up to 3-footers. No touching others golf equipment. No congregating at the clubhouse after play. And finally, no exchanging scorecards at the end of the round. Those are the guidelines for now.
“I think they allow all players to get out and enjoy some fresh air, and get those competitive juices flowing again,” league czar Aaron Prior told the Pioneer in an email. “We have to be conscious of those players who still feel unsafe to participate and I have advised them that it is okay to not play at this point and they can make their matches up later in the summer. Golf is the perfect sport for the times we are living in, it allows you to get outside in the sun, maintain an acceptable distance from playing partners, and it allows you to interact with your friends in a safe environment.”
