City of Yuma buildings and facilities are opening back up with COVID-19 restrictions in place.
There also will be summer recreation games at the Jeff Armstrong Ball Park Complex, beginning next week. See Sports section for more on that.
City Hall reopened to the public on Monday for the first time since since March 18, 10 days short of three months.
There is a sign posted out front, as well as on the door going into City Hall, asking those who enter to please wear a mask and maintain 6-foot social distancing. Clear plastic barriers have been installed where the public deals with the front office staff, and there are yellow tape markings indicating where people should stand.
Yuma Public Library also reopened to in-person visits on Monday. It is not just business as usual, however.
The library is open only for check, as there is no in-house use of the facility, and there can be no more than 15 in the library at one time. Computers can be used by appointment by calling 848-2368. The computers are disinfected between appointments.
People 60 years of age and older, along with high-risk individuals, have check-out hours from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The library again is open from 1 to 4 p.m to the rest of the public for check-out services.
It is closed at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. so the staff can clean the facility.
The Yuma Municipal Swimming Pool also will be opening on Monday, June 15, featuring “COVID-19 Hours.”
“Vulnerable Population Swim” is 8 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.
There will be two sessions of Open Swim on each week day, with a maximum of 44 people allowed at each session. The sessions, Monday through Friday, will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
There is going to be water aerobics on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 5:15 to 6 p.m., and 6:15 to 7 p.m.
The Yuma Community & Enrichment Center still remains closed.
The city’s parks are open except for the playground areas. City Manager Scott Moore said the state is not allowing playgrounds open at this time, and the Yuma County variance does not have anything addressing those areas different than the state.
