Stratton/Liberty opens 4-0
Stratton/Liberty’s volleyball team has enjoyed a strong start to Season C, sitting at 4-0 heading into today’s match at Idalia.
The Knighted Eagles opened the season March 23 with a 25-8, 25-15, 25-15 win over Eads. Kennedy Frank recorded 12 kills, Hanna Rigirozzi seven, Lucero Ontiveros five, McKenna Notter four and Mattie Crouse three. Crouse had 27 setting assists. Crystal Bouchier was 17-17 serving with one ace, Emma Bohnen 20-21 with four aces, Crouse 9-9, Ontiveros 9-10 with two aces, Frank 5-5 with two aces, Madison Tagtmeyer 5-7, and Callie Camp 1-2.
Stratton/Liberty won in four sets March 25 at Otis, 19-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-21. The Knighted Eagles were 97.8 percent at the service line. Bohnen was 21-23 with one ace, Frank 18-18, Bouchier 16-16, Tagtmeyer 15-15, Crouse 12-12, and Ontiveros 9-1 with one ace. Notter and Frank each had 14 kills, Rigirozzi nine, Ontiveros eight and Crouse six. Crouse had 39 setting assists.
They then hosted Arickaree/Woodlin on March 27, winning 25-16, 25-12, 25-11. Bohnen had eight kills, Notter seven, Rigirozzi six, Ontiveros six, Crouse five, and Lauren Thompson three. Crouse had 25 assists, and Thompson three. Bouchier was 19-19 serving with one ace, Notter 13-13 with two aces, Bohnen 11-12, Tagtmeyer 11-12 with one ace, Ontiveros 8-10 and Crouse 7-7.
The Knighted Eagles then came up with a win over 2A power Limon this past Tuesday, 18-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18. Statistics were not available yet.
Lone Star volleyball
The Lone Star volleyball team is sitting at 2-2 heading into its April 1 match at Weldon Valley.
The Longhorns won two in a row last week. The first was March 23 at Peetz, 26-24, 25-20, 25-18. Statistics were not available.
Lone Star hosted Bethune last Saturday, winning 25-13, 25-10, 25-13. Andrea Kuntz had 11 kills, Alison Davis eight, Aleighcea Kuntz seven, and Leah Kubitz two. Jayna Lockard had 15 setting assists. Al. Kuntz was 19-21 serving with two aces, Kubitz 16-17 with three aces, A. Kuntz 9-0 with three aces, Lamya Kuntz 8-10 with one ace, Davis 6-6, Lockard 6-7 with one ace, and Ana Lockard and Amanda Kubitz both 1-2 with one ace.
The Longhorns lost in four sets this past Tuesday at Idalia, 25-21, 7-25, 23-25, 19-25. L. Kuntz was 19-21 serving with five aces, Al. Kuntz 17-19, L. Kubitz 12-13 with two aces, J. Lockard 10-11 with two aces, A. Kuntz 10-11 with one ace, and Davis 8-8. A. Kuntz and Al. Kuntz each had six kills, and Davis two. J. Lockard had 13 assists.
Arickaree/Woodlin
Arickaree/Woodlin is 1-2 heading into Saturday’s home match against Flagler.
The Indian Mustangs opened their season March 25 with a home loss to Briggsdale, 13-25, 16-25, 14-25. Joslyn King had seven kills, Cora Schrock three, Julisa Quinteros three, and Lilly Monat two. Monat had four assists, and Schrock two. Monat was 6-7 serving with one ace, King 6-7, Schorck 4-4, Emma Peeples 4-4, Quinteros 3-3, and Wynter Van Ness 2-3.
They were swept at Stratton/Liberty on Saturday, 16-25, 12-25, 11-25. King was 9-10 serving, Monat 6-7, Quinteros 6-7, Schrock 5-6 with two aces, Van Ness 5-6 with one ace, Peeples 3-4, and Tori Arfsten 1-1 with one ace.
The Indian Mustangs got into the win column this past Tuesday at Bethune, 25-17, 25-15, 25-22. King had 10 kills, Van Ness five, and Arfsten, Schrock, Monat and Quinteros two each. Monat had 14 assists, and Schrock six. Monat was 18-19 serving with five aces, Arfsten 13-15, Van Ness 7-11 with two aces, Quinteros 9-10, King 6-7 with one ace, Schrock 6-10, and Peeples and Deanna Herman one good serve each.
Otis volleyball
The Otis High School volleyball team has opened its season with two wins in its first three matches.
The Bulldogs had won two straight leading into this past Tuesday’s match that had been rescheduled from last week following tragic death of a junior high student.
Otis ended up opening its season last Thursday at home with a loss to Stratton/Liberty, 25-19, 22-25, 13-25, 21-25. Becca Bleak had 18 kills, Anothneya Schaffert 14, Rowan Tribelhorn seven, Jayce Perry three and Azariah Erickson two. Ali Hornung recorded 41 setting assists. Tribelhorn was in on five blocks. Bleak was 15-15 serving with one ace, Erickson 14-15 with two aces, Hornung 18-20, Schaffert 12-12 with one ace, Perry 9-9, Tribelhorn 9-10 with one ace, and Kacy Perry 1-1.
The Bulldogs picked up their first win the next day at Wray, 25-18, 25-16, 25-19. Schaffert had 14 kills, Bleak 13, Tribelhorn four, Erickson three and Hornung two. Hornung had 30 setting assists. Erickson was 15-15 serving with three aces, Bleak 14-15 with two aces, Schaffert 13-13 with two aces, Hailey Stivers 9-10 with two aces, J. Perry 8-9 with two aces, Hornung 7-7 and Tribelhorn 5-5.
Otis was back in action Monday at home, cruising to a 25-14, 25-6, 25-4 win over Peetz. Schaffert had 18 kills, and Bleak 11, while Hornung had 26 setting assists. Bleak was 25-26 serving with six aces, Hornung 12-13, Stivers 12-12 with three aces, Erickson 7-9 with two aces, Schaffert 7-9 with three aces, J. Perry 3-4, and Tribelhorn 1-1 with one ace.
The Bulldogs are home today, April 1, against Flagler, and travel to Haxtun on April 6.
