Debra Marlene (Stults) Gillett was born in Denver Colorado on January 24, 1953. The Lord knew that she would need a loving family and shortly after her birth she was adopted by Darrel and Martha Stults.
Deb or Debbie as many called her, attended schools in Vernon and Wray. Deb married Gary Gillett and to this union was born a son, Michael and a daughter Rhiannon.
Deb loved all animals but had a special place in her heart for cats. She also had a passion for Indian artifacts. Deb was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Yuma, Colorado.
Over the years, Deb had to deal with several health issues and was restricted in her physical abilities. After living in Yuma for the last few years, she had recently moved to Hillcrest in Wray and was enjoying her surroundings and the people at the facility. She especially loved the food that the staff prepared for the residents.
After a brief illness, Deb was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2021.
Deb is preceded in death by her parents, Darrel and Martha Stults and daughter, Rhiannon Newton. She is survived by her son, Michael, granddaughters, Jorian Danielle Gillett, Mahayla Lynn Gillett, Charity Hill and Crystal and Heather Newton, brothers Doug, Casey (Dee Ann) and Curt (Terry) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service was held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, 2 p.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Dennis Fitzpatrick officiating. Cremation was requested. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
