Betty Joyce Hagler passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021 at the age of 94 in the Washington County Nursing Home.
Betty was born June 11, 1927 in Beaumont, Texas to Clemence and Harry Byers. She grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana where she graduated from New Iberia High School.
While working as a switchboard operator at Texaco, she met her husband, Raymond Hagler. Raymond was a Field supervisor for Texaco as well. They married in 1954 in New Iberia. They had two daughters Judy Hagler and Gloria Wood.
In 1973 the family moved to Otis, Co. There they owned Hagler’s General Store up until 1994. Betty was also a member of The First Presbyterian Church.
Betty was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She loved her family and always made endless efforts showing her love. She was an excellent seamstress and traveled often in her later years. She spent many summers in Florida with her best friend and sister June Fairchild. Betty loved hard and was adored by many. She will be remembered for her silliness and contagious laugh.
Betty is preceded in death by Lillian B., Gerome B., Will B., Charles B., Frank B., and June F.
Betty is survived by Judy Hagler, Gloria Wood (Maxon), Sadie Bellin, David Hagler, Rainee Bellin, Shawn Bellin, Matthew Hagler, Sylas Case, Violet Case, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Otis Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Otis.
