Lone Star’s track and field athletes had back-to-back meets, late last week.
The Longhorns competed in the LPAA League Meet last Saturday at Holyoke, with the girls team likely winning the team title.
Alivia Weathers was a four-time champion, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 16.87 seconds, the 300-meter hurdles in 51.64 seconds, the long jump with a distance of 15-6.5, and the pole vault by clearing 9-0.
Alison Davis won the shot put with a heave of 30-9, and placed fourth in the discus at 73-6. Lamya Kuntz cleared 7-6 for second in the pole vault, and Aleighcea Kuntz 6-6 to place fifth. A. Kuntz took second in the triple jump with a distance of 25-10.5.
The boys team racked up a good amount of points as well.
Ethan Glenn took second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:16.5. Wyatt Cochran was third in the discus at 109-3, and third in the shot put at 37-5. Abraham Martinez cleared 10-0 for third in the pole vault. Dakoda Cox was third in the 200-meter dash in 26.85 seconds. Martinez was fourth in the long jump at 16-6.5, and Owen Glenn was fifth in the 800 in 2:57.64.
The 4-by-800 relay team of O. Glenn, Cox, E. Glenn and Martinez placed fourth in 10:32.33.
The Longhorns also were in Holyoke the previous day, competing in the HWAY Invitational.
Weathers won the 100 hurdles in 17.08 seconds, and the triple jump with a distance of 34-8.25. She was second in the 300 hurdles in 49.55 seconds, and second in the [ole vualt at 9-5. L. Kuntz was third in the pole vault at 8-11, and A. Kuntz fifth at 6-5. Davis was seventh in the shot put with a heave of 29-4.5, and A. Kuntz took eighth in the 400 in 1:22.34.
E. Glenn was third in the 1600 in 5:42.38, Martinez fifth in the 100 in 12.53 second, Martinez sixth in the pole vault at 9-11, Cochran sixth in the shot put at 36-7.75, and eighth in the discus at 103-10.
OTIS
The Otis High School track and field athletes competed in back-to-back meets in Holyoke, last week.
The Bulldogs competed in the HWAY Invitational on Friday, with both teams placing in a few events.
McKenna Stowe took fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 3 minutes, 54.51 seconds. Madelyn Willeke was fifth in the pole vault by clearing 6-5,and sixth in the long jump with a distance of 13-8.5.
For the boys, Sawyer Packer took sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 36-1, and seventh in the 800 in 2:31.74. Taylor Ringlein was sixth in the pole vault at 9-11, and eighth in the 800 in 2:33.54.
The Bulldogs then were in the LPAA League Meet on Saturday.
The Otis boys had several placing efforts in a bid to win the league title.
Maddox Hisam cleared 5-6 to win the high jump. Ringlein and Carter Wells both cleared 10-0 to tie for first in the pole vault. Peyton Wells put the shot 40-0.75 for first place, and was second in the discus at 129-1.
Jack Willeke was second in the 100 in 12.89 seconds, Bohden Klinzmann fourth in 13.71, Packer fifth in 13.76, and Ringlein sixth in 14.13. Willeke was second in the long jump at 17-6.25, and Packer third at 17-3.5. Packer took third in the triple jump at 35-4.25, Hisam fourth at 33-1, and Ringlein fifth at 29-11.5. Peyton Wells was sixth in the pole vault at 8-6, and Jacob Perry seventh in the discus with a distance of 86-11.
Koden McPheron was fourth in the 1600 in 7:47.62, Brian Coyle fifth in 7:48.79, and Perry sixth in 9:45.92. Coyle took third in the 3200 in 17:14.03, and McPheron took third in the 110-meter hurdles in 23.46 seconds.
Otis got more points in the relays. The 4-by-100 team of Klinzmann, Hisam, C. Wells and Willeke won the league title with a time of 49.35 seconds. The 4-by-800 team of Klinzmann, Packer, C. Wells and Ringlein placed third in 10:14.56.
For the girls, Stowe was third in the 800 in 4:09.11, Willeke third in the long jump at 13-0, Grace Ison fourth in the 400 in 1:24.77, Willeke fourth in the 100 hurdles in 21.17 seconds, and fourth in the pole vault at 7-0. Willeke was fifth in the 100 in 15.89 seconds, and Hailey Stivers seventh in 16.85. Stowe was eighth in the 200 in 42.45 seconds. Stivers was fifth in the discus at 71-8, and sixth in the high jump at 3-6.
ARICKAREE/WOODLIN
The Arickree/Woodlin track and field athletes had a good run at the LPAA League meet, last Saturday in Holyoke.
The boys team made a run at the league title with several top efforts.
Hayden Page won the 200 dash in 25.25 seconds, while Landry Pepples was second in 26.73 seconds, and Bryce Shaffer fourth in 27.5.
Jacob Jefferson won the 400 in 52.14 seconds, Page was second in 54.78, Peeples fourth in 59.76, and Shaffer fifth in 1:00.1.
Jefferson won the 110-meter hurdles in 17.43 seconds, and the 300 hurdles in 49.08 seconds. Koolstra was second in the 800 run in 2:28.58.
The 4-by-800 team of Koolstra, Page, Peeples and Shaffer took first in 9:32.53.
Shaffer cleared 5-0 for third in the high jump. Page was sixth in the long jump at 16-2, and Dillon Noletubby eighth at 15-10.75. Peeples was sixth in the disucs at 88-1, and Noletubby eighth at 85-1. Kooltra took fifth in the shot put with a heave of 33-5, and Noletubby sixth at 33-1.75.
The girls also had several placing efforts.
The 4-by-800 relay team of McKenna Jesse, Janice Kalcevic, Ja’Niya Smith and Julisa Quinteros took first place in 12:42.78.
Smith was fourth in the 100 in 15.17 seconds, and Quinteros eighth in 16.95. Smith was fourth in the 200 in 32.91, and Jesse seventh in 35.92.
Smith was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 24-7.5, Kalcevic sixth in the long jump at 12-5, and Jesse seventh in the high jump at 3-6.
