Yuma boys golf staying plenty busy

Yuma High School’s boys golf team definitely is getting in plenty of action.
The golfers are in Estes Park today, August 25, for the Bobcat Invitational, then at the Holyoke Invitational on Friday, followed by a trip to the Wray Invitational on Tuesday.
They got in three tournaments last week.
The first was at the Burlington Invitational at Prairie Pines, August 16.
Yuma finished fourth in the 10-school field with a 277 team score. Cheyenne Wells won the team title with a 253, followed by Wray and Stratton. Nash Richardson led the way for Yuma, placing fifth with an 86. JJ Ward tied for ninth with a 99, while Brodie Castillo shot a 103,and Jake Hagemeier a 118. Yuma also took five JV players, with Will Noble shooting a 101, Parker Dressel 105, Noah Hansen 107, Ty Remmich 11, and Jayden Serl 115.
A varsity squad went to the Eaton Invitational at the Eaton Country Club, last Thursday, August 18. The team placed 17thout of 28 schools with a 276. Richardson shot an 86, Castillo 92 and Ward 98.
The golfers took a trip to Cheyenne Wells on Friday, finishing fourth in the 10-team field with a 279. Cheyenne Wells on the team title, while Wray was second and Stratton third.
Ward had a big day, shooting an 82 to place fourth. Kaleb Jones shot a 98, Noble 99 and Hansen 117. Four played in the JV field, with Aiden Chadwick shooting a 92, Braden Brunk and Fynn Sims both 95 and Braden Denney 106.
“We have been pretty consistent with our team scores this year almost everywhere we have played,” coach Benjamin Weathers said. “The second half of the season should be really fun if we keep this up.”
