Otis High School boys’ basketball team keeps moving on up.
The Bulldogs, 6-3, 2-0, were on a four-game winning streak heading into this past Tuesday’s home game against Lone Star. They have a good test at home Friday when they host Briggsdale for their only game this weekend, as the YWKC League Junior High Tournament takes center stage.
Otis picked up an impressive win last Saturday at home, 62-60 over Haxtun for its fourth straight win.
The Bulldogs ran out to a 25-10 lead in the first quarter, and led 39-19 at halftime. However, Haxtun rallied in the second half, nearly pulling off the comeback before Otis held on for the win. 
Jack Willeke had 28 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Sawyer Packer 13 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Charlie Kendrick nine points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists, Erick Thorn seven points, five assists and three rebounds, Carter Wells five points and four assists, and Austin Hornung three rebounds and two assists.
LONE STAR
Lone Star’s boys basketball team travels south to Arickaree today, January 26.
The Longhorns, 2-6, were at Otis this past Tuesday, and host Weldon Valley on Tuesday.
They suffered a 63-51 league home loss to Idalia this past Friday. Statistics were not available.
ARICKAREE BOYS
The Arickaree boys basketball team has been on the move since resuming the season in 2023.
The Bison, 5-3, 2-0, had won four of five, including three straight, heading into their game at Byers this past Monday. They were at Peetz on Tuesday, host Lone Star today, January 26, are at Idalia on Friday, and go to Denver Waldorf on Monday.
Arickaree will host the YWKC League Junior High Tournament championship games on Tuesday.
The Bison cruised to a 54-24 league win at home against Bethune, last Friday, in their only action last weekend. They outscored the Bobcats by at least six points in each quarter, leading 27-10 by halftime.
Nic Hermes had 14 points and two assists, Bryce Shaffer 11 points, Logan Cordell seven points and two assists, Dillon Noletubby six points, seven rebounds and four steals, Logan Wright five points, five rebounds and eight steals, Austin Wright five points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, Hayden Page four points, six rebounds and three steals, Keith Page two points, and Zarron Schobal one point and nine rebounds.
OTIS GIRLS
Otis High School’s girls basketball team faces a serious test this week as the Bulldogs host highly-ranked Briggsdale on Friday.
It is the Bulldogs any action this weekend as the YWKC League Junior High Tournament takes place Saturday and Tuesday. Otis also was scheduled to host Lone Star this past Tuesday.
The Bulldogs are 2-7 after a close 36-34 loss at home to a tough Haxtun squad, last Saturday. Otis held a 20-16 halftime lead, but Haxtun got just enough done in the second half to escape with the win.
Alli Hornung had 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, Aedyn Tribelhorn seven points, three assists and three steals, Rowan Tribelhorn six points, four rebounds and four steals, Hailey Stivers six points and four rebounds, Madelyn Willeke four points and five rebounds, Kayce Perry three rebounds, and Layce Perry three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
ARICKAREE GIRLS
The Arickaree girls basketball team has a busy schedule this week.
The Bison, 3-4, 1-1, were at Byers this past Monday, host Lone Star today, January 26, are at Idalia on Friday and travel to Denver Waldorf on Monday.
Arickaree will host the YKWC League Junior High League Tournament championship game on Tuesday.
The Bison picked up a 53-23 league win at home against Bethune, last Friday. They ran out to a 17-6 lead and never looked back.
Raeya Schrock had 12 points, eighth rebounds, five assists and four steals, Janiya Smith 12 points, five steals and four rebounds, Julisa Quinteros nine points and 14 rebounds, Cora Schrock eight points, four rebounds, five steals and three assists, Janice Kalcevic seven points, five rebounds and five steals, P. Villarreal two points, Lilly Monat one point and six rebounds, Keyli Vazquez three rebounds, and McKenna Jesse one rebound, steal and assist.
LONE STAR GIRLS
The Lone Star girls basketball team travels south to Arickaree today, January 26, for its only action this week.
Lone Star, 2-4, 1-1, dropped a YWKC League game at home to Idalia, last Friday, 51-23. Lone Star statistics were not available. Idalia had three players in double figures, Jenna Wieser, Jaylyn Kechter and Ailyn Monarrez.
