1A hoops report

Otis High School’s boys basketball team has a three-game homestand as the Bulldogs hit the stretch run of the regular season.
They are 10-3 overall, 5-0 in the YWKC, and are up to No. 7 in the Class 1A Rating Percentage Index thanks to an eight-game winning streak. They also are ranked No. 7 in 1A in the CHSAANow.com coaches poll.
Otis closes out the regular season with five non-league games. The Bulldogs host Peetz today, February 9, host Prairie on Saturday, and welcome Merino to town on Valentine’s Day.
They picked up a pair of league games last weekend.
It began with a 70-49 decision over Arickaree. Carter Wells had 21 points, six steals and four assists, Jack Willeke 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Charlie Kendrick 13 points, eight steals and three assists, Sawyer Packer 12 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Austin Hornung five points and five rebounds, Taylor Ringlein three points and two rebounds, Mitchell Stivers two points and three rebounds, and Erick Thorn five assists.
The Bulldogs went to Seibert on Saturday and came home with a 71-34 win over Hi-Plains, quickly building a 12-point win in the first quarter. Packer had 19 points and 19 rebounds, Hornung 14 points, Willeke 12 points seven rebounds and five steals, Kendrick 12 points and four assists, Stivers five points and five rebounds, Wells three points and three steals, Thorn two points and two assists, Grady Bechtle two points and three rebounds, and Jacob Perry two points.

ARICKAREE BOYS
The Arickaree boys basketball team has nothing but non-league games remaining.
The Bison finished YWKC League play with a 3-2 record, and are 8-5 overall. They have three straight road games, at Briggsdale on Friday, Hanover on Saturday and Weldon Valley on Monday.
The Bison dropped a 70-49 decision at Otis, last Friday. Logan Wright had 16 points and seven rebounds, Logan Cordell 12 points, Austin Wright seven points and seven rebounds, Dillon Noletubby four points and six rebounds, Zarron Schobal three points and two rebounds, Hayden Page two points and three rebounds, Bryce Shaffer two points and three steals, and Nic Hermes three rebounds.
Arickaree rebounded from the loss with a 63-30 win at Denver Waldorf, Saturday. A 21-2 third quarter helped seal the win.
Cordell had 17 points, seven three rebounds and three assists, L. Wright 16 points, four steals and three rebounds, Noletubby 10 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, Schobal eight points and four rebounds, Page six points and five rebounds, Shaffer two points and three rebounds, Keith Page two points, and A. Wright two points and five rebounds.

LONE STAR BOYS
The Lone Star boys basketball team took a two-game winning streak into this week.
The Longhorns, 4-8, 1-3, hosted Briggsdale this past Tuesday, are at Flagler on Saturday, and at Prairie on Tuesday to wrap up the regular season.
Lone Star picked p a 69-34 win at Weldon Valley, earlier last week, running out to a 21-6 lead. Abraham Martinez had 25 points and eight rebounds, Ronnie Tadema 16 points, eight steals and six rebounds, Wyatt Cochran 16 points and five rebounds, Grant Kuntz eight points, four rebounds and three assists, Addison Weathers two points and three rebounds, Owen Glenn two points, Dillon Cox one steal, and Jack Glenn one rebound.
The Longhorns then cruised to a 70-28 home win over Deer Trail, last Friday. Lone Star statistics were not available. Probably can be found at maxpreps.com.

OTIS GIRLS
The Otis High School girls basketball team will be looking to add to its win total over the next week.
The Bulldogs finished YWKC League play with a 3-2 record, and are 4-9 overall.
They split their last two league games, last weekend.
First was a 36-25 home win over Arickaree, last Friday. They ran out to a 16-3 lead, were outscored 10-0 in the second, but held a 13-4 advantage in the third. Alli Hornung had 14 points and six rebounds, Hailey Stivers seven points and 13 rebounds, Aedyn Tribelhorn six points, four rebounds and three steals, Rowan Tribelhorn five points, nine rebounds and four assists, Madelyn Willeke four points, six rebounds and five steals, Kayce Perry five rebounds, and Layce Perry two rebounds and two assists.
Otis closed out league play Saturday with a 48-43 loss at Hi-Plains. A. Tribelhorn had 16 points, Stivers 12 points and five rebounds, Willeke six points and 10 rebounds, R. Tribelhorn six points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals, Hornung three points and four rebounds, K. Perry three rebounds and two steals, and L. Perry two rebounds and two assists.

ARICKAREE GIRLS
Arickaree’s girls basketball team split two games last weekend.
The Bison finished 2-3 in the YWKC League, and were 5-7 overall heading into a home game with Prairie earlier this week. They are at Briggsdale on Friday, at Hanover on Saturday and at Weldon Valley on Monday.
The Bison dropped a 36-25 decision at Otis, last Friday. They held a 10-0 advantage in the second quarter, but were outscored a combined 29-7 in the first and third quarters. Raeya Schrock had nine points and six rebounds, Janiya Smith four points, six rebounds and four steals, Lilly Monat four points and eight rebounds, Cora Schrock three points, 10 rebounds and four steals, McKenna Jesse two steals, Janice Kalcevic three rebounds, and Julisa Quinteros two rebounds and two steals.
Arickaree then cruised to 48-9 win at Denver Waldorf, Saturday, racing out to a 17-2 lead. Smith had 12 points, four rebounds and six steals, Quinteros 10 points and eight rebounds, C. Schrock nine points, five rebounds and four steals, Gabby Hermes six points and three rebounds, Kalcevic four points and six rebounds, R. Schrock three points and five assists, Jesse two points and four rebounds, Monat two points and five rebounds, P. Villarreal six rebounds, and Rilee Barry one each of rebound, assist and steal.

LONE STAR
The Lone Star girls basketball team carried a two-game winning streak into a league game at Hi-Plains earlier this week.
The Longhorns, 5-6, 1-3, also hosted Briggsdale earlier this week, and are at Flagler on Saturday and Prairie on Tuesday to wrap up the regular season.
Lone Star hosted Weldon Valley earlier last week, cruising to a 61-22 win. The Longhorns led 32-5 by halftime. Jade Kuntz had 28 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and 11 steals, Amanda Kubitz 10 points and 15 rebounds, Ana Lockard 10 points and five rebounds, Paityn Forry seven points and four rebounds, Leah Kubitz four points, five rebounds and three steals, Sicily Lowell two points and two rebounds, and Aimee Trejo six rebounds.
The Longhorns hosted Deer Trail last Friday, squeezing out a 35-32 win. Lone Star statistics were not available. Probably can be found at maxpreps.com.
