Yuma High School’s JV boys basketball team split two games last weekend.
The Outlaws lost 50-40 at Wray last Friday. Iann Duran had 13 points, David Covarrubias six, Miles Rutledge six, Reyli Trejo four, Alex Pensado four, Noe Quezada three, Marvin Duarte two and Lennox Huwa two.
The team rolled to a 61-16 win at Peyton on Saturday. Quezada had 11 points, Duran nine, Cannon Beaver nine, Christian Thomson eight, Covarrubias six, Pensado four, Huwa three, Trejo three, Rutledge two, Duarte two, Gage Gleghorn two and Alan Flores two.
C BOYS
Yuma High School boys basketball’s C-team pulled out a 32-28 win at rival Wray last week.
Lennox Huwa had 12 points, Cannon Beaver eight, Christian Thomson four, Alan Flores four, and David Covarrubias four.
YMS GIRLS
The Yuma Middle School girls basketball team has been staying plenty busy.
They played at Sterling on January 20. The A-team lost 39-30. Keylen Quezada had 13 points, Laisha Loya 10, Kinsley Mendoza six and Raylee Blach one. The B-team won 28-16. Olivia Ruiz had 10 points, Addie Noble eight, Mayrin Sanchez eight, and Izzy Oestman two. The C-team lost 11-7. Noble had five points and Grace Cullen two. The D-team lost 11-4 with Quinn Mekelburg and Maurine Smith each scoring two points.
YMS was at Fort Morgan earlier last week. The A-team won 43-13. Quezada had 14 points, Loya 11, Mendoza eight, Kelsey Hermosillo five, Riley Thomson three, and Blach two. The B-team lost 23-22. Ruiz had 10 points, Oestman six, Noble five and Sanchez two. The C-team won 35-2. Cullen had 13 points, Oestman 10, Noble eight and Teagan Galles four. The D-team won 22-10. Sofia Fuentes had six points, Mekelburg six, Sarah Smith four, M. Smith four, and Zahller two.
YMS hosted Burlington last Thursday, January 25. The A-team lost 31-17. Quezada had 10 points, Mendoza four, Loya two and Hermosillo one. The B-team won 27-25. Ruiz had 10 points, Noble nine, Blach five and Sanchez three. The C-team lost 27-15. M. Smith had eight points, Fuentes, Kerri Allen and Mekelburg two each, and Aileen Olivas one. The D-team won 16-15. Mekelburg had six points, Zahller four, M. Smith four, and London King two.
