Robert L. Archer (Bob) passed away peacefully at his home in Vancouver on July 24th.
He spent his early years in Yuma, in the Northeast corner of Colorado.
During his long life he experienced the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, and World War II.
When Bob was a senior in high school, his family moved to Portland to help build Liberty ships at the Oregon Shipyard. Bob finished his senior year while also working 7 1/2 hours each night.
After high school he enlisted in the Army Air Corp, but was never deployed before the war ended.
After his service, he earned a Business Administration degree at Washington State College (now WSU) then worked in Portland for a short time before moving to Roosevelt, Washington to take care of his recently widowed mother.
While in Roosevelt he met his future bride, Sandra Sanstrom. They wed in June 1957 and were together for 67 years in Vancouver, Washington. Bob leaves behind Sandra, daughters Debbie Krekos and Diana (DJ) Marlow (Dan), son Bob Archer (Laura), four grandsons, one great granddaughter and many loved ones.
A service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, August 16th at Northwood Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the team at Eden Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to A Caring Closet, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity or Open House Ministries.
