Arickaree hosting Otis in 6-man showdown

An early season 6-man showdown will take place Friday night as the Arickaree Bison will host the Otis Bulldogs.

The Washington County rivals both are 2-0 and ranked in the top 10 of Class A 6-Man. Both have won rather handily their first two games.

Last Friday, Otis cruised to a 72-6 win over Hi-Plains in the Bulldogs’ home opener, while Arickaree won 42-15 at Prairie on Thursday.

Friday’s battle will be the Bison’s first home game in 2024, and also their first Friday night game.

Arickaree took a 22-0 lead in the first half last Friday at Prairie, then took care of business over the final two quarters.

Austin Wright completed seven of 11 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 136 yards and one touchdown n 25 carries. Jorge Ramos caught three passes for 50 yards and a touchdown, Dillon Noletubby one for 57 yards, Zarron Skubal one for 32 yards, Luis Machado one for 10 yards and TD, and Angel Palomo one for three yards. Ramos also rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

Ramos was in on 18 total tackles, Wright 17, Skubal 14, Machado nine, Daniel Goff five, Aiden Krogan four, and Keith Page three. Wright came up with one interception and one fumble recovery, and Skubal recovered a fumble. Krogan returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Ramos returned a punt to the house.

Meanwhile, Otis again wasted little time in racing out to a big lead. The Bulldogs led Hi-Plains 46-0 after the first quarter, and 60-0 at halftime.

Gavin Price completed four of five passes for 74 yards and a touchdown, and Austin Hornung completed all three of his attempts for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Emiliano Varela had one catch for 41 yards and a TD, Milo Kendrick three for 59 yards, Gracen Bechtle a 15-yard TD catch, Jacob Perry a nine-yard TD catch, and Matthew Seward one catch for seven yards.

A total of 11 Bulldogs ran the football, combining for 170 yards and seven touchdowns. Mitchell Stivers scored touchdowns on his two carries, Blake Stivers three rushes for 31 yards and a touchdown, Tayshaun Thomas a 52-yard TD run, Tayte Smith a 13-yard TD run, Wyatt Reynolds two rushes for 20 yards and a score, and Seward four rushes for 13 yards and a touchdown.

Smith was in on three total tackles, Reynolds three, Cambric Klinzmann three, Charlie Kendrick two, Tristen Stivers two, and M. Kendrick, Bechtle, Thomas, Travis Wood, and Aiden Kundsen one each.
