Otis High School’s football team will try to keep rolling up big numbers when it hosts North Park on Friday afternoon.
The game has a rare 3 p.m. kickoff. Otis is 4-0 and No. 6 in the 6-man CHSAA Seeding and Selection Index after last Friday’s 66-7 home win over Genoa-Hugo. North Park, located in Walden in the mountains west of Fort Collins, is 0-3.
Otis has scored at least 58 points in each of its first four games, posting 72, 69 and 66 in its last three games. It has held three of its opponents to one score, while Arickaree scored twice two weeks ago.
The Bulldogs again quickly put the game away last Friday against Genoa-Hugo. They led 40-0 by the end of the first quarter, and 54-0 at halftime.
They ran for 238 yards and seven touchdowns on 19 carries, an average of 12.5 yards per rush. They also passed for 84 yards on four completions, 21 yards per catch, and two touchdowns. The Pirates had 79 total yards, 64 passing and just 15 rushing with an average of 1.4 yards per run attempt.
A total of 10 Bulldogs ran the ball, and six scored touchdowns. Mitchell Stivers had 55 yards and two scores on four carries, Tayte Smith 45 yards and one touchdown on one carry, Tayshaun Thomas 32 yards and one TD on two carries, Wyatt Reynolds one carry for 27 yards and a TD, Tristen Stivers 23 yards and one TD on three carries, Cambric Klinzmann two carries for 15 yards and a score, Blake Stivers 21 yards on two carries, Scott Smith 10 yards on one carry, Raegan Tores two carries for eight yards, and Charlie Kendrick a two-yard run. Klinzmann scored on a punt return.
Austin Hornung completed three passes for 49 yards and two touchdowns, and Smith one completion for 35 yards. Kendrick had two catches for 35 yards, Grady Bechtle two for 20 yards and a TD, and Smith a 29-yard TD catch.
Kendrick and Hornung led the strong defensive effort with five tackles each, Emiliano Varela was in on three, Malakye Rees two, Scott Smith two, Klinzmann two, and T. Smith, Milo Kendrick, Bechtle, Torres, Aiden Knudsen and Tristen Stivers one each. Varela came up with an interception.
ARICKAREE FOOTBALL
The Arickaree football team has dropped its last two games, but still is No. 10 in the CHSAA Seeding and Selection Index as it enters Friday’s home game against Peetz.
Both teams are 2-2. Peetz is No. 17 in the Index.
Arickaree faced a highly-ranked opponent for the second straight week, losing last Saturday 54-14 at No. 4 Stratton.
The home team made quick work of the Bison, leading 46-0 by the end of the first quarter.
Jaxson Cordell and Jorge Ramos each ran for a touchdown, and combined for 108 yards for the Bison’s only positive yardage in the game.
Defensively, Ramos was in on nine total tackles, Luis Machado eight, Cordell seven, Zarron Skubal seven, Austin Wright four, Dillon Noletubby three, Wyatt Sperry two, Keith Page two, Levi Kalcevic two, and Colton Sperry, Angel Palomo and Daniel Goff one each. C. Sperry came up with an interception, and Wright recovered a fumble.
OTIS
The Otis High School volleyball team has won three straight entering its match at Loveland Classical today, September 26.
The Bulldogs, 6-3, also play in the Akron Tournament on Saturday before playing at Cheyenne Wells on Tuesday.
Otis picked up two home wins last week, beginning with a25-11, 25-14, 25-12 decision over Bethune earlier last week. Madelyn Willeke had 13 kills, Aideyn Tribelhorn 12, Lacye Perry nine, Alexa Bencomo two, Kensley Packer two and Crysten Goble one. Goble had 28 setting assists. The Bulldogs served 95 percent. Tribelhorn was 17-17 with five aces, Lydia Willeke 16-17 with one ace, Perry 12-12 with two aces, Madison Reynolds 10-12 with three aces, Goble 8-9 with one ace, and M. Willeke 6-6 with one ace.
The Bulldogs hosted Genoa-Hugo/Karval on Friday, cruising to a 25-7, 25-9, 25-14 win. Otis statistics were not available.
LONE STAR VOLLEYBALL
Lone Star’s volleyball team is 5-4 as it travels to Fleming today, September 26, after winning two of three last week.
The Longhorns also host Deer Trail on Tuesday, then go to highly-ranked Idalia on October 3.
They claimed a 25-7, 25-21, 25-6 home win over Front Range Baptist last Friday. Statistics were not available
A four-match winning streak came to an end Saturday when the Longhorns lost in five sets at home to Akron, 25-23, 25-23, 16-25, 22-25, 11-15. Statistics were not available.

Arickaree’s volleyball team is 7-9 entering its home match against Flagler, today, September 26.
The Bison, who have lost seven straight, also host Peetz on Friday.
They lost in four sets last Friday at Akron, 20-25, 26-24, 12-25, 18-25. Statistics were not available.
