Otis High School’s football team is in great shape for a high seed in the 6-man football players.
The Bulldogs are 8-1 and No. 4 in the 6-man CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index heading into the regular-season finale Saturday at home against Eads. Eads is 5-3 and No. 12 in the Index. Cheyenne Wells, Stratton and Idalia (which Otis beat two weeks ago) are the top three heading into the final week of the regular season.
Otis cruised to a 58-12 home win over Peetz, last Saturday afternoon. The outcome was determined quickly as the Bulldogs scored 44 points in the first quarter, and led 58-6 by halftime.
Cambric Klinzmann ran for a 58-yard touchdown, while Tayte Smith had 55 yards and two touchdowns on five carries, Mitchell Stivers 29 yards and three touchdowns on three carries, Charlie Kendrick one run for 18 yards, and Tristen Stivers 22 yards on four carries. Austin Hornung threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Kendrick, and Gracen Bechtle completed two passes for 10 yards. T. Stivers had one catch for 10 yards.
Kendrick scored on a 76-yard return after a turnover. Milo Kendrick also had an interception, and Hornung recovered a fumble.
Smith was in on six total tackles, Hornung five, Klinzmann five, M. Stivers four, C. Kendrick four, Malakye Reese three, M. Kendrick three, Jacob Perry three, Blake Stivers two, Aiden Knudsen two, Bechtle one, and T. Stivers one.
ARICKAREE FOOTBALL
The Arickaree football team is sitting nicely for a berth in the 6-man football playoffs with one game remaining in the regular season.
The Bison, 5-3, had a bye last week. They now close out the regular season at home Saturday afternoon against Cheraw. They are No. 7 in the 6-Man CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index. Cheraw is 5-4 and No. 13 in the Index. The Wolverines have won their past three games in blowout fashion, including 52-0 over Walsh last Friday.

Otis High School’s volleyball team is heading toward a high seed in the Class 1A regional field with one match left in the regular season.
The Bulldogs were 16-5 and No. 4 in the 1A CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index before this past Tuesday’s match at Kit Carson. They host Eads on Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale. The regional field will be released in CHSAANow.com early next week.
Otis had one match last week, winning in three sets last Thursday at Flagler, 25-18, 25-14, 25-17.
Madelyn Willeke had 21 kills, Aedyn Tribelhorn 10, Layce Perry six, and Kensley Packer four. Crysten Goble had 35 setting assists. Tribelhorn was 25-25 serving with six aces, Lydia Willeke 14-14 with two aces, M. Willeke 11-12 with one ace, Crysten Goble 8-9 with one ace, Madison Reynolds 6-8, and Perry 6-6 with one ace.

Lone Star’s volleyball team concludes the regular season Friday with an eye on qualifying for the postseason.
The Longhorns enter the match at Weldon Valley 12-10 and No. 23 in the 1A CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index. They did not have any matches this past week.
ARICKAREE VOLLEYBALL
Arickaree’s volleyball team entered the final week of the regular season on the outside looking in regarding the Class 1A postseason.
The Bison are 8-14 and No. 34 in the 1A CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index. They close out the regular season Saturday at home against Cheraw. The Bison did not have a match last week.
