Otis baseball is rolling

Otis High School’s baseball team entered this undefeated and highly ranked in Class 1A.

The CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index made its debut this week, and the 9-0 Bulldogs found themselves at No. 4.

The Bulldogs swept past Peetz last Friday in Otis, 10-5 and 10-2.

Otis led the opener 3-2 after three innings but finally got some separation with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the fifth.

Mitchell Stivers had two hits, including a double, with one RBI and three runs scored, Paxton Davis had a three-run triple and two runs, Gavin Price a one-run double, JJ Ward a one-run double, Austin Hornung a one-run single and one run, Tayte Smith two runs, and Cambric Klinzmann one run.

Ward went five innings on the hill for the win. He struck out 10 and walked four, allowing four earned runs on four hits. Davis went the last two innings, striking out four and walking one, allowing one run on one hit.

Otis scored four runs in the bottom of the first in the second game. The Bulldogs led 5-2 when they scored five in the bottom of the sixth.

Davis had two doubles among his three hits, driving in four, Price hit a triple and a double with three RBI, Bechtle had a hit and scored two runs, Smith, Stivers and Klizmann each scored two runs, and Ward and Raegan Torres one run each.

Price pitched four innings, striking out eight and walking two with one earned run and one hit. Davis went three innings, striking out five and walkign two, with one earned run and one hit.

Otis returned to action Tuesday, getting a 14-5, 12-0 sweep at Prairie to sit at 9-0.
