Holy Week services and Easter Egg hunts mark the calendar this week as Easter is on Sunday.
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Old Threshers. Youth ages 0 to 10 years old are welcome to participate. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.
Eckley is having an Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. on Saturday for all area youth. It will be at the town park.
As most probably are aware, it is supposed to be chilly on Saturday so dress accordingly.
Holy Week
Following are the Holy Week services at area churches.
• The Yuma Ministerial Association will host a Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday at 6:30 a.m. at the Yuma Community Center. Yuma Methodist Church Pastor Nathan O’Neal will be preaching the message and Yuma First Presbyterian Church’s Trombone Trio led by Dave Hoch will provide worship music. The Yuma Lion’s Club will provide a light, continental breakfast. Please join in celebrating our living, risen Savior!
• Pleasant Valley Church is holding its traditional Easter Sunrise Service on Old Baldy. Meet at Yuma County Roads U and 54 at 5:45 a.m. to carpool to the top in four-wheel drives. A breakfast will be served after at approximately 7 a.m. Easter Sunday Worship will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by an egg hunt. Pleasant Valley also will have a pancake supper on Good Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a service.
• St. John’s Lutheran Church: Maundy Thursday Service at 7:30 p.m., Good Friday Service at 7:30 p.m. and on Easter Sunday there will be a breakfast at 7:30 a.m followed by an Easter Service at 9 a.m.
• St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church: Holy Thursday Mass will be at 6 p.m., Good Friday Service at 4 p.m., an Easter Vigil Mass in Spanish at 8 p.m. Saturday, and Easter Sunday Mass at 9:30 a.m.
• Yuma First Church of the Nazarene will host an Easter Sunday Service at 10:30 a.m.
• First Southern Baptist Church: There will be a showing of “The Passion of the Christ” on Good Friday at 6:30 p.m. Easter Sunday Service will be held at the regular service time.
• First Presbyterian Church of Yuma: Maundy Thursday Service at 6 p.m., Good Friday Service at 6 p.m., and the Easter Sunday Service will be at 10:30 a.m.
• Yuma Christian Church: Will have its monthly Table Talk on Good Friday starting at 6:30 p.m. with worship, Scripture reading and time of prayer, followed by food and fellowship. The Easter Service will be Sunday at 10 a.m.
• Eckley Community Church: Maundy Thursday Sacrificial Meal will be at 6 p.m., and the Easter Sunday Service is at 9 a.m.
• St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Otis: Holy Thursday Divine Service at 7 p.m., a Good Friday Tenebrae Service at 7 p.m., and Easter Sunday Service at 7 a.m. followed by a breakfast.
