Alvin A. Knox,73, passed away March 4, 2022 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush Colorado. He was born March 26th, 1948 in Brush at the family home during a blizzard to Ervin and Elsie (Coder) Knox. Alvin was the 4th child of 6. He and his siblings were very active in 4-H growing up. As he got into high-school he also became active in FFA, the school band, and drag racing. He won numerous trophies drag racing the quarter mile races. He graduated Brush high-school in 1966.
Alvin married Susan M. Greenwalt August 27th, 1967 in Wiggins. They both worked together custom farming and harvesting, hay production and grinding, along with working with Alvin’s family on the Knox family farm. In the 70’s, Alvin was a drummer in local band Utopia and played in that band for many years. He also enjoyed flying and received his private pilots license in 1976.
In April 1978, Alvin and Susan moved from Brush to a farm in North East Yuma County where they continued to do farming, hay, and custom jobs. A few years later, on May 17, 1982, Alvin and Susan welcomed their son Kevin Knox. Alvin and Susan enjoyed teaching Kevin the farming life.
Later Ervin and Elsie also moved to a farmstead close to Alvin and Susan. He continued to help his parents. When Ervin passed away, Alvin began taking care of his mom full time. Him and his mother worked together operating a hay grinding business, grinding for local feedlots such as Schramm feed lot and Buffalo Spring Ranch. He also developed a passion for photography. He would take pictures for school proms, weddings, baby showers and much more. He enjoyed capturing peoples special moments in pictures for them to cherish for life. Alvin himself was full of life and love. He also had so much faith and love in our lord. He attended church every chance that he could and when he wasn’t at church, he was still studying his bible with his brother Dean.
In October of 2011, Alvin suffered a stroke. It slowed him down a little but Alvin’s strength and determination definitely did not allow it to stop him. He still wanted to and in many instances did stay very active and lend a helping hand in any project that he could. Alvin is survived by his son, Kevin Knox and Leslie of Haxtun, CO and their four children, Devin, Amy, Michael, and Austin. His sister Carolyn Ochampaugh and husband Earl of Garden City, Kansas, Jean Rosenfield of Denver, and Brother Dean Knox of Akron, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Donna Shaver and her husband Bill, his brother Earl Knox and his brother in law Chuck Rosenfield.
