Arlen Fuhlendorf, at age 85, a retired government employee, died August 6, 2023 in Burleson, Texas.
Arlen was born on July 1, 1938, in Yuma, Colorado. He lived in the Fort Worth area since 1962. He was a charter member and elder of St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, and Pathway (formerly St. Matthew) Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burleson.
He worked as a federal agent for over 25 years, including traveling the world as sky marshal. He loved to fly fish with his kids, and play golf with his friends. He enjoyed retirement since the age of 50, and he was really good at it. The joy of his later life was watching his grandchildren grow up, and eventually become parents. He was skilled and practiced in the art of story-telling.
All knew him to be a generous, loving man. He lived his favorite Bible verse, Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Naomi Fuhlendorf; his brother, Ervin; his daughter, Dana Fuhlendorf; and his son, David Fuhlendorf. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda Fuhlendorf; his brother, Elvin Fuhlendorf; son, Sam Fuhlendorf; granddaughter, Dianna Murchison; grandson, Josh Fuhlendorf; granddaughter, Catie Noles; and nine great-grandchildren, who all knew him as “Pops” and “Poppie.”
A memorial service will be held at Pathway Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burleson on August 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org; Shriners Hospitals for Children at lovetotherescue.org; or the Southern Poverty Law Center at support.splcenter.org.
