According to other news sources, Boggess was tracked down in Lake Placid, Florida by several local agencies and the U.S. Marshals Service and arrested.

Deputy U.S. Marshals in Colorado and Florida honed in on a residence in Sebring, Florida, about 85 miles south of Orlando.

Officers and deputies then tracked Boggess to a commercial storage unit in Lake Placid, about 15 miles south of Sebring, where they arrested him.

Boggess was booked into Highlands County Jail in Florida, pending extradition to Colorado. He is being held without bond

Boggess was arrested in Yuma County in June 2017 after a fire at the home near the intersection of Yuma County roads 30 and C he shared with Connie Sizemore caught fire thanks to faulty wiring that powered a marijuana grow’s high-powered lighting ballasts, fans and hydroponic systems. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, after getting a search warrant, found an illegal marijuana grow that included more than 1,700 plants and two pounds of finished marijuana product.

He pled guilty in May 2018 in Yuma County District Court to a Class 2 drug felony, and was sentenced to six years in the Colorado Department of Corrections with a mandatory parole after two years.

At the time of his arrest, it was revealed that he was a person of interest in the 2007 disappearance of Heather Riggio, 20, in the Miami, Florida area. A detective with North Miami Beach Police told television station ABC 10 News in Miami that he also had a violent past. The news station had reported that he had a rap sheet that included a 1997 arrest for kidnapping and shooting a woman who refused his advances.

Boggess returned to Yuma after his release from the Department of Corrections and was employed locally. He no longer was seen soon after the disappearance of Meek.
