Yuma High School’s boys golf team is nearing the end of its regular season.
The Indians are at Akron on Friday, and the Northeastern League Championship is Tuesday. Regional is coming up later this month.
Yuma finished third in the Wray Varsity Invite, August 31. Wray won the team title with a 263, while Cheyenne Wells had a 275, Yuma 282, Holyoke 284, Burlington 297, Akron 304 and Liberty 350.
John Smith shot an 88 to lead Yuma, finishing fourth. Jake Hagemeier had a 96, Andre Baucke 98, and Nathaniel Etl 113.
Varsity and JV players competed in the Chad Godfrey Memorial Tournament, last Friday in Sterling.
The Indians finished 11th out of 14 teams in the varsity tournament, held at the Northeastern 18 course, shooting a 292. Sterling won the team title with a 234. Brekyn Josh led the Indians with an 89, while Brodie Castillo shot a 99, Kyle Schuetz 104 and Hagemeier 128.
The JV played at Riverview Golf Course, where the Indians finished fourth out of 10 teams with a 317. JJ Ward shot a 95, Noah Hansen 107, Kaleb Jones 112, Braden Brunk 114, Ty Remmich 115 and Jayden Serl 132.
