Yuma High School’s cross country runners keep working their way toward a big postseason.
The harriers are at Wray today, September 29, and travel to Wiggins on Saturday, after a strong performance at the Platte Valley Invitational last Friday.
Yuma’s girls finally had enough runners to post a team score, placing third with 84 points. Douglas County won the girls team title with 37.
Ashley Ibanez led the way by placing fifth with at time of 23 minutes, 57. 91 seconds. Kenya Arviza was 16th in 25:50.29, Myka McDonald 17th in 26:03.19, Nuvia Vega 32nd in 27:48.01, and Alyssa Roberts 39th in 29:14.62.
Yuma’s boys finished fourth in the team scores with 93 points. Wiggins won the team title with 53.
Javier Duran was 13th in 19:24.46, Angel Escobar 14th in 19:29.89, Silas Chambers 20th in 20:29.31, Jiovani Perez 22nd in 20:38.62, and Hugo Olivas 32nd in 21:36.63. Liam McClaran finished the course I 21:55.45, Angel Ibarra in 25:16.16, and Jaime Montanez in 28:18.18.
