Colorado State University leaders spent time in Yuma and Morgan counties last week.
CSU President Amy Parsons and CSU College of Agricultural Sciences Dean Lawrence Dill spent a full day in the counties engaging with many wonderful people, including agricultural leaders and innovators.
The day began with a visit to the alumni-owned Quail Ridge Dairy in Morgan County, touring the impressive facilities run by Chris, Mary and Stratton Kraft.
They then headed to Don and Peggy Brown’s family farm southeast of Yuma. They learned about the innovative technology and equipment that is driving the family’s agricultural success, as well as how they are including the next generation of their family in the business.
George Seward then shared some history of how connected the community of Yuma has been to CSU, from students to former Board of Governor members. Seward hosted a roundtable discussion, bringing together local CSU alumni and community leaders to discuss key topics.
The visit ended with Parsons and Dill meeting with Yuma High School ag students at Farm House Market. They discussed the importance of education and how CSU can help students stay engaged in their community.
Farm House Market was the perfect setting as it began as a senior project for owner and alumna Meghann Blach while she studied animal science and ag business at CSU.
