The semifinal field has been set as the Class 1A District 5 Tournament now moves to Wray High School, Friday and Saturday, after top seeds hosted the quarterfinals earlier this week.
The Lone Star girls are the top seed in their bracket, Haxtun is the top seed in the boys tournament.
Girls quarterfinals were played this past Tuesday evening, at Lone Star and second-seed Idalia. Lone Star rolled past eighth-seed Otis, 42-22, along with fourth-seed Stratton/Liberty beating fifth-seed Flagler/Hi-Plains 48-27.
Second-seed Idalia hosted seventh-seed Bethune, winning 44-27, while third-seed Haxtun beat sixth-seed Arickaree/Woodlin 54-27.
Boys quarterfinals were Wednesday. Haxtun beat eighth-seed Otis 64-43, preceded by fourth-seed Flagler/Hi-Plains beating fifth-seed Arickaree/Woodlin 52-45.
Second-seed Stratton/Liberty hosted the other quarterfinal. The Knighted Eagle rolled past seventh-seed Bethune 64-40, and third-seed Idalia eliminated sixth-seed Lone Star 45-26.
Tournament action moves to Wray High School on Friday and Saturday. Girls semifinals are at 4 with Idalia taking on Haxtun, and 7 p.m. when Lone Star faces off against Stratton/Liberty.
The boys semifinals pit Stratton/Liberty against Idalia at 5:30 p.m., and Haxtun playing Flagler/Hi-Plain at 8:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the girls’ third-place game is at 2 p.m., followed by the boys third-place game, then the girls championship at 5 p.m., and finally the boys championship at 6:30 p.m.
The top three teams from each bracket will advance to the Class 1A regional that will be held March 6-7 at Englewood High School.
