Edgar Edward Ediger age 95, of Yuma, CO, passed away on August 31, 2022. He was born in Weatherford, OK December 1, 1926. He was the oldest son of Albert and Marie Ediger. Ed passed away at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron, Colorado on August 31, 2022.
He spent most of his young life around Turpin, OK, but graduated high school from Liberal, KS where he was an avid basketball player.
Ed entered the US Army on February 21, 1946. He completed basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. He was attached to Battery D 51st Antiaircraft Replacement Training Battalion. While there he came down with Rheumatic Fever. Edgar was Honorably Discharged on June 21, 1946 from William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso, Texas. He received the Victory Medal.
In 1953, he married Christine Still and to that union one daughter was born, Robin Cheree’. They started their life together in Otis, CO farming and ranching for a couple of decades. During this time Ed got his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his Cessna. He was a partner in PK&E, along with Rich Pappemheim and Duane Kjeldgaard before they sold to what is today Sito.
In the mid 70’s, Ed returned to the oil fields working on rigs in Montana. He started as a roughneck and worked his way up to oil rig management. During this time Ed developed quite the “Wildcat” mentality, and spent the remainder of his life looking for the “perfect” oil and gas leases. He retired in the late 90s, and bought a homestead in Marienthal, Kansas. Ed returned to the Yuma area in 2017. With the home care of Javier Garcia and Rene Garcia, Ed was able to remain in his home until the last few months of his life.
Ed enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports, breakfast at the Main Event with coffee buddies, talking cattle and land, and reading his Bible. He had a long full life.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marie Ediger, brother, Walter Paul Ediger and sister-in-law, Sue.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Robin Baucke and husband, Ron; Grandson Ty Baucke and wife, Amanda; granddaughter Tristyn Roth and husband, Blake all of Yuma, Colorado; granddaughter Taryn Jackson and husband, Henry “Hank” of Nebraska; three great grandsons, Rhett, Wiley and Bowen Roth along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral service – Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Dave Martelle officiating. Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery.
