Ida Lea (Forbes) Whittenburg was born December 20, 1921 to Willard A. and Permelia O. (Ross) Forbes on the homestead west of Springfield, Colorado. She was the Sixth of fifteen children – six brothers and eight sisters. She passed away on October 5, 2023 at the Yuma District Hospital.
When she was three years old, her folks left the homestead and moved frequently to where ever her father could find work. Most her schooling was received in Nebraska.
She was married to Roscoe Whittenburg on February 23, 1942 at St. Francis, Kansas and two children were born to this union: Lillian Emma Whittenburg and Lyle Leroy Whittenbur.
They lived on a farm south of Eckley until 1950 when they moved to St. Francis, Kansas. In 1955 they moved back to Colorado on a farm southeast of Yuma. Following the death of her husband in April, 1985, she and her daughter moved to Yuma and Made this her home until the time of her death.
Visitation – 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. October 10, 2023 at Baucke Funeral Home.
Graveside Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on October 11, 2023, at the Yuma Cemetery. Pastor Terry Douglas officiated the service and Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
