Larry Eugene Murphy was born on February 8, 1962 and left this earth on May 12, 2022. He was 60 years old.
He was born in Denver to Danny Murphy and Helen (Heideman) Murphy. He had one brother, Bob Murphy and four sisters, Sharon Wheeler, Diane Copp, Connie Leach, and Amber Carpenter.
Larry met Joy Michele (Smith) Gallegos in 1992 and they married on September 17, 1993 in Fruita, CO. Their combined family consisted of Larry’s son, Michael Murphy and Joy’s three children, Tenae Klinzmann, Kymberly Betz and Joel Gallegos. In 1996 they relocated to Yuma, CO. They were happily married for 28 ½ years
Larry started helping his father with siding at a very young age, then became a subcontractor for K Designers until he started his own business, Larry Murphy Construction. He ran his business successfully for nearly 30 years. Installing siding, windows, and gutters were his specialties, but took on many other projects. He took tremendous pride in every detail of the project and of course the final product which beautified our communities. Larry wouldn’t hire additional workers because he was so particular about how each step of the job was done.
He had many interests, such as motorcycles, cars, and fishing. The most important things to him were his grandkids. He was very proud of the nickname “Guh”, given by his grandkids, it filled him with happiness and pride. The kids would always say “ask Guh he never says no”. He loved attending their activities, sporting events, concerts and school events. He was always in the stands. Larry enjoyed many vacations, trips to the lake, pool, video games and snuggling his grandbabies, no matter their age.
He is preceded in death by his parents Danny and Helen Murphy, his brother Bob Murphy and his mother-in-law Bonnie Smith.
Those left to mourn are his loving and devoted wife Joy; his children and their families -Michael Murphy and grandkids Sabrina, Gabby and Mikey; Tenae Klinzmann and husband Chad, grandkids Bohden, Cambric, and Trista; Kymberly Betz and husband Brandon, granddaugter Baylee, and Joel Gallegos and wife Joey, grandson Grayson.
