Law enforcement have identified a suspect in the death of Britani Meek.
Yuma Police Chief Jerry Thompson told the Pioneer he understands people’s concerns regarding the case, but due to its sensitive nature law enforcement is not able to share much information. He said he wanted to understand these type of cases take time.
The case is still being actively investigated. “The Yuma Police Department, the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation continue to work tirelessly on this case,” Thompson shared. “We continue to pursue all leads and currently we have identified a suspect in this case.”
The identity of the suspect was not released.
Meek, 25, went missing on October 25. The YPD released it had received a report that she was going to the Denver area to meet an unknown person. Her description and the description of the car she was driving were widely circulated.
However, the vehicle was located in rural Yuma County on November 16. A body was located on November 22. An autopsy was performed on November 27, during which it was positively identified as Meek.
