The area enjoyed a beautiful Sunday, with a high in the mid-60s. Many people around Yuma took advantage of the wonderful weather to get outside for walks, biking, golf, or just simply enjoying the outdoors.
However, bitterly cold arctic air moved into the region during the day Monday, as the high of 37 degrees was reached early in the day. The overnight low was minus-4, with a wind chill around minus-20.
The high Tuesday was 9 degrees. The overnight low again was to be around zero or below, with wind chill readings expected to be in the 15 to 25 below range.
The cold was to stick around Wednesday, when the high was expected to be 13 degrees. The overnight low again was to be around zero or lower, again with dangerous wind chill readings well into Thursday.
There was a chance for a small amount of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Thursday’s high is supposed to be just 21 degrees, but the warming will continue, with a forecast high of 54 on Sunday, just in time for folks to enjoy more time outdoors. In fact, the highs are supposed to be in the 50s and 60s through most of next week.
