Jimmie Clayton Churchill 1943-2019
Jimmie Clayton Churchill was born on July 13, 1943 to Vern and Toots (Rogers) Churchill in Yuma, Colorado. He passed away on February 27, 2019, at the age of 75, at his home in Yuma, Colorado after a lengthy illness with his wife, Josie at his side.
Jim attended the Otis Schools following graduation he attended one year of Auto Mechanics School.
Following his schooling Jim went to work for Meadow Gold Dairy in Englewood, Colorado as a Machine Operator from 1963 until 1999. Along with his job at Meadow Gold he was a manager for a janitorial service which worked at a bank in Denver, Colorado.
Jim married Karla Shafer in 1963 and to this union four children were born, Karen, Tony, Greg and Bryon. This union ended during the eighty’s.
Jim and Josie Padilla began their relationship in 1997. Josie also worked at the Meadow Gold Dairy Company as a Machine Operator. They met while doing shift changes on the same machines when Josie relieved him after his day was done. Jim had always told Josie that he was not going to marry again when low and behold guess what, they were married on April 4, 2009.
Jim loved to go fishing until he could no longer tolerate the sitting or the sun. He loved gardening and yard work for as long as he was able to.
Jim loved to play marbles winning a championship in the early 1950’s when he was about eight years old. Josie remembers a story in which she was doing some spring cleaning, she was cleaning her doll collection, one doll was in the bathroom when Jim went in, he came out and stated that doll liked him she was winking at him. Jim will be remembered for his favorite sayings of “Hey Baby” and “Let’s Rock and Roll”.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Birdine Churchill and Pearl Rogers; grandfathers, Okal Churchill and Robert Samuel Rogers; grandson, Jeremy Neuschwanger; two aunts, Darlene Marr and Dorothy Kuntz; and his in-laws, Ben and Priscilla Padilla.
Jim is survived by his parents, Vern and Toots Churchill of Akron, Colorado; his wife, Josie of Yuma, Colorado; sister, Emma Prescott and husband, Selmer of Eckley, Colorado; daughter, Karen Neuschwanger and husband, Mike of Littleton, Colorado; son, Tony Churchill and Amanda of Thornton, Colorado; Greg Churchill and wife, Marsha of Otis, Colorado; Bryon Churchill and Wendi of Otis, Colorado; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, Catherine Maestes and Brother, Roger Padilla and other relatives and friends.
There will be a Rosary on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. and a Memorial Mass on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Both will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Yuma, Colorado with Father Felician Mbala officiating. There will be a Private Family Inurnment at a later time. Baucke Funeral Home is directing the service.
