Raymond Dewayne Prather, 82, of Eaton passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born on December 25, 1939 in Yuma County, Colorado to Truman and Opal (Smith) Prather. He grew up in Yuma and graduated from Yuma High School in 1957. He married Elizabeth Jean Prescott on February 14, 1960.
Ray had worked for Safeway for many years in Yuma, Fort Collins and Greeley. He then worked for Frito Lay for 25 years in sales. He was on the board of the Greeley Bowling Association, a life time member of the Greeley Moose Lodge, and he managed the caddy shack at Indian Hills Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Prather of Eaton; his sons David Prather of Fort Collins and Dwight Prather of Ault; his grandchildren, Casey Prather, Madaline Prather, Megan Prather, Zachery Prather, Tanya Prather, and Michael Prather; and his siblings, Kathy Smith of Mead, Robert Prather and wife Connie of Loveland, Melvin Prather of Berthoud, and Shirley Stephens of Otis; and many, many special nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his son Donald Prather; and his siblings, Nola Standen, JoAnn Werner, and Carol Imhoff.
A Celebration of Ray’s Life was held on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his son Dwight’s home in Ault. Cremation will take place.
