In Class 1A regional volleyball, Otis is at Genoa-Hugo on Friday, playing Pikes Peak Christian at 3:30, followed by Genoa-Hugo. Stratton/Liberty is at Haxtun on Friday, playing Haxtun at 2 p.m. then Elbert immediately afterward.

Otis Volleyball

The Otis Lady Bulldogs started out the first round of the District Five Tournament with a big win over the Idalia Lady Wolves, knocking them out of the tournament and ending their season. Otis was not worried about a win, they were confident they would continue their season. The Lady Bulldogs won in three sets 25-11, 25-17 and 25-8.

Becca Bleak made 15 kills, two aces, three blocks and eight digs.

Jack Holtorf made one block, seven assists and two digs.

Mallory Thompson made six digs.

Rowan Tribelhorn made seven kills and two blocks.

Azariah Erickson made three kills and one dig.

Hailey Stivers made three digs.

Anthoneya Schaffert made three kills, five aces and 11 digs.

Annalise Glosson made two aces, three blocks, 20 assists and 11 digs.

Rachel Patterson made three aces and 26 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs hosted the District Five Tournament Finals on Friday November 1st. They had to play the Stratton/Liberty Lady Knighted Eagles and the Haxtun Lady Fightin Bulldogs for seeding into the Regional Tournaments.

The first match was against Haxtun. It was a hard fought match that both teams really wanted to win. Unfortunately the Lady Bulldogs lost in five sets 25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 23-25 and 4-15. With this loss, they would not go in as a number one seed.

The next match was against the Stratton/Liberty Lady Knighted Eagles. They would have to win this match to go in as a number two seed at Regionals. It was another intense and exciting match. The Lady Bulldogs were able to win in four 25-16, 27-25, 17-25 and 25-16.

Stratton Liberty Volleyball

The Stratton/Liberty Lady Knighted Eagles hosted the Lone Star Lady Longhorns in Stratton on Thursday Oct 31st for the first round of the District Five Volleyball Tournament. The home team had to win to go onto the finals of the Tournament. The Lady Knighted Eagles took control of the match early in set one, and beat the Lady Longhorns in three 25-14, 25-13 and 25-16.

Mattie Crouse made 29 assists and 12 digs.

Lauren Thompson made two digs.

Madison Tagtmeyer made one dig.

Emma Bohnen made 10 digs.

Emily Idler made nine kills, two aces and four digs.

Savannah Rothbauer made 15 kills, six blocks and two digs.

Dalanee Laybourn made four digs.

Lucero Ontiveros made five kills, two aces and two digs.

Andrea Hornung made four kills, one block and one dig.

Kennedy Frank made four kills, one ace, two blocks, three assists and two digs.

Crystal Bouchier made two kills, two aces and 16 digs.

This win put them into the finals of the Tournament held in Otis on Friday Nov 1st. The three teams attending, SL, Otis and Haxtun all qualified for Regional Tournaments so this final was just for seeding. The first match was against the Haxtun Lady Fightin Bulldogs. SL tried hard to achieve a win, but just couldn’t get past Haxtun and lost in three 23-25, 24-26 and 18-25.

The second match was against the Otis Lady Bulldogs. It was another hard fought battle, and the Lady Knighted Eagles again fell short, but made it to four sets. The scores were 16-25, 25-27, 25-17 and 16-25.

SL will be heading to Regional Region C Tournament as the third seed. Region C tournament will be in Haxtun on Friday Nov 8th and they will play the Lady Fightin Bulldogs at 2 p.m. and the Elbert Lady Bulldogs right after at approximately 3:30 p.m. The number one team will earn themselves a trip to the State Tournament held next weekend.
