Cheer team shines at camp
The Yuma High School spirit squad attended a three-day UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) home camp last week, July 24-26. The girls did an awesome job as they learned several cheers, two dances and lots of stunting. They have come a long way in a very short amount of time. The team received a trophy for Superior performance. They also qualified to participate in the Pre-Game Performance of the 2020 Citrus Bowl in Florida New Year’s Day. Three of the girls, Jazmin Danner, Harper Whitehead and Jada Young, made the UCA All American team. They get the opportunity to perform in London for a New Year’s Day parade. The squad consists of Jazmin Danner, Harper Whitehead, Ximena Estrada, Jenna Wall, Jada Young, Gissel Gutierrez, and Victoria Chambers. Their coaches are Stefanie Cheshire and Caroline Saenz.
