Thomas “Tom” Churchill Holtorf was born on June 19, 1936 to John and Margaret “Mugs” Holtorf in Sterling, Colorado. Tom was the middle of three children. He entered rest Aug 4, 2022 at his home in Yuma Colorado, at the age of 86.
Tom attended Union Center Country School until 8th grade. He then attended Akron High School, graduating in 1954. Tom attended Colorado State University for three years before returning to the Buffalo Springs Ranch north of Akron.
On June 6th, 1964 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins Colorado Tom married the love of his life, Diane Burke, and took up residence at the Sullivan Ranch south west of Yuma where they raised their two sons Thomas and Marc.
Tom worked the ranch and farmed from 1964 until 1984 when he rented the farm ground out and took over management of Schramm Feedlot until his retirement in 2019.
Tom had many passions in his life, chief among them was family. He also loved (in no particular order) cattle, fishing, cattle, golf, cattle, watching video sales of cattle, feeding cattle, and a scotch at the end of the day.
Tom was predeceased by his Mother Mug, Father John, Brother John, Brother in law Dr Ed Murray, Wife Diane, and Daughter Johnna.
He is survived by his Sister Mary Helen (Holtorf) Hatch and husband Daryl, sister in law Joan Murray, brother in law John Burke (wife Calla), Sister in law Lea Holtorf, sons Thomas (wife Julie), Marc (wife Julie Laut). Grandchildren Hayden (wife Deserae), Spencer, Alec, Julian, Celia. Great Grandchildren Zeke, Maya, and Reagan and many family and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Memorial Mass will be scheduled for a later date at St. John Catholic Church in Yuma, Colorado. Inurnment will follow at the Yuma Cemetery. Baucke Funeral Home is in charge of the service.
