Velvet Rachell Reynolds 1962-2025

Velvet Rachell Reynolds was born August 5, 1962 to Armando and Nellie Pacheco in Kremmling, Colorado.

She grew up in Winter Park, Colorado, with her parents and three siblings. As a family they ran a gas station and towing company called Pacheco & Sons Taxaco. Velvet had many fond memories of this time in her life.

In 1981 Velvet moved to Platteville, Colorado, and married her first husband, Brent Deroo. In February of 1982 Velvet gave birth to the first of two children, a daughter, Karlyn. Velvet moved back with her parents in 1984 to Vernon, Colorado, and in May of 1986 Velvet welcomed a son into the world, Kory. Velvet worked at the Wray hospital at this time and loved her job helping people. In May of 1991 Velvet me the love of her life, Gale LeRoy Reynolds and she moved to Yuma, Colorado, with him. On August 29, 1992 they were married. From that moment and for the last 33 years they were inseparable.

At one point Gale and Velvet had the opportunity to raise McKenzie Valley Timber Wolves. Velvet absolutely loved these animals and had a great passion for them. She took a lot of pride in her wolf pack.

Another passion of hers was doing security at the Yuma County Fair. This was by far her favorite job and pastime. She talked about it all year long, driving the rest of her family crazy.

In 2002, Velvet was blessed with her first grandchild, Chase McCreath. This became the highlight of her life. She loved being a grandma. In 2006 her first granddaughter was born, Cheyanne McCreath. Velvet was delighted with the arrival of another grandchild. Her third grandkid, Caden McCreath, was born in 2007. She was so excited to have three grandchildren to spoil. Velvet enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and she loved to take them on mountain trips to Red Feather Lakes.

Besides her grandkids, Velvet had a deep love for her pets. For many years Velvet owned Chihuahua pups, which really kind of fit her. Both she and her pups fit the saying “Dynamite comes in small packages.”

Velvet was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Nellie and Armando Pacheco, two brothers, Leo and Armando Jr. Pacheco, one sister Beatrice Hull and her son-in-law Toby McCreath. She is survived by her husband Gale Reynolds, her two children, son Kory Deroo and daughter Karlyn McCreath, three grandchildren, Chase, Cheyanne and Caden McCreath, two brothers, Earman and Joe Pacheco, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Velvet was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandma and was soon to be a great-grandma, which she was very excited about. Velvet left this world January 14, 2025 and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
