Virginia Ann Twedell passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021, in the home of her eldest daughter, Debbie Wise, where she received loving care and additional support from Hospice of the Valley. She was able to celebrate Christmas with many of her family members and had looked forward to her eternal home with Jesus.
Virginia was born on September 7, 1934, to the parents of Frances and Alton Scofield in Joes, Colorado where she graduated from high school and then attended college in Boulder. Virginia enjoyed working as the secretary at the Liberty School in Joes, Colorado, as a paralegal for an attorney in Yuma, Colorado, and then as a supervisor and enumerator in Colorado for the USDA.
Virginia was instrumental in starting the craft fair in her local Joes community. She enjoyed various crafts such as sewing, beading, knitting and stained glass. She stayed in touch with many friends and family via social media and/or in person. She loved traveling with her daughters for “girls get-away trips.” She was active in her church and loved learning about our Lord and Savior and His gospel. She took great notes and often relistened to sermons online for the benefit of the closed caption after attending church services. She loved weekly Bible classes in small groups via Zoom and enjoyed meeting monthly with the Seasoned Saints for fellowship when her health permitted. One of her favorite verses was Ephesians 1: 1-14 regarding spiritual blessings for His predestined chosen.
Lee Mansfield and Virginia Scofield were married from December 26, 1953, at Cope Colorado, through 1974. To this union, three daughters were born, Debbie Wise from Phoenix AZ; Vickie Talamantes from Joes, CO; and Gayle Drager from Chandler, AZ.
Virginia was predeceased by a young sister, her grandparents, her parents and husbands, Lee Mansfield, and Merle Twedell, whom she married on June 28, 1975. Virginia is survived by her brother, Gary Scofield and wife Marilyn from Sun Lakes, AZ; daughter Debbie Wise and her families: Dustin and Tosha Wise (Joes, Co), and Tycie Wise (Chandler, AZ); daughter Vickie and Jose Talamantes and families: Mindy Pilling (Nampa, Id), Nicole and Shane Stout (Joes, Co), and TJ Talamantes (Joes, Co.); and daughter Gayle and Keith Drager and families: Jory and Tyra Drager (Joes, Co), Jayden and Tycie Drager (Queen Creek AZ); and Jediah and Sasha Drager (Gilbert, AZ) as well as several great grandchildren: Devin Flores (Caldwell, Id), Hope Pilling (Nampa, Id), Kaden and Koda Drager (Joes, Co), Tyler and Travis Wise (Joes, Co); Jorja, Jayda, and Jemma Drager (QC AZ), Benji and Liam Drager (Gilbert); and great great grandchildren Kenzo and Queency Franco (Caldwell, Id); as well as Merle Twedell’s families: Don and Louise Isenberg Twedell (Parker, Co) and Karen Twedell (Aurora, Co) and a nephew Guy Scofield and family (Highlands Ranch, Co and Jill Manser and family (Evergreen, Co).
Services will be held January 7, 2022, 10 a.m. at Baucke Funeral Home, 128 S. Ash, Yuma, Co followed by Interment at the Yuma Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life at the Grassroots in Joes, Co at 2 p.m. with a meal. Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the Joes Fire Department, Joes, Colorado.
