William “Bill” Knapp, 60, of Yuma, Colorado passed away August 31, 2021 at the Harmony Home in Yuma. Bill was born July 6, 1961 in Illinois. A celebration of life will be held at Daylight Donuts in Yuma, 200 W. 8th Ave., October 7 from 2 to 4 pm.
Bill graduated from Lone Star High School in 1979 and was a gifted track and basketball athlete. Bill moved to Sterling, Colorado after graduation and worked many jobs. He was a beloved bartender at many establishments in Sterling. He was also a semi-professional bowler. He enjoyed league bowling at Ice Lanes. A devastating car accident in 1999 left him with a traumatic brain injury. He was moved to a Yuma nursing home to recover and be close to his mother, Lorene Geske. As his health improved, Bill loved helping people and held several small jobs around Yuma including cleaning the parking lots at Daylight Donuts, Bug Off Car Wash and the Main Event. Bill loved telling stories about his memories of basketball from his years in high school and his devotion to the Denver Broncos!
Bill is survived by his brother Todd and wife Heather of Sterling; brother Tracy and wife Bobbie of Ft. Collins and several aunts and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Geske.
