Yuma High School’s boys wrestling team will be wrapping up the regular season this week.
The Outlaws go to University in Greeley for a triangular with the Bulldogs and Strasburg on Thursday, January 30, then are at the Mitchell Invitational in Colorado Springs on Friday.
“We had a tough week of competition last week, but look to improve in our final week of the regular season and wrestle our best come regionals and state,” coach Presley Papachek said.
They then will prepare for a Class 2A Regional at Akron next weekend.
The boys team had just two duals last week.
Yuma was at Wiggins last Thursday, losing the team score 35-30.
Esteban Gonzalez won by technical fall (18-3, 3:45) over Radley Thomas at 113. Ethan Nadow won by major decision, 10-2 over Lukas Opatik at 144. Dallas Brunk earned a 9-3 decision over Keaton Crownover at 150. Daden Beauprez won by fall, 1:39, over Riley Thomas at 175. Cooper Blach and Agui Montes de Oca got forfeit wins.
The Outlaws were at Akron the next evening, losing the team score 42-24 while getting two wins on the mat. Beauprez got a 35-second pin over RyLee Bacon at 175, and Bryan Montes won by fall, 3:00, over Alex Galindo at 185. James Brandner and Montes de Oca got forfeit wins.
