Yuma Middle School’s girls basketball teams keep rolling along on February.
YMS played Haxtun earlier last week. The A-team won 36-8. Berkley Nighswonger had 15 points and eight rebounds, Taryn Sheffield had 11 points and five rebounds, Aubrey Black four points and four assists, Kinsley Mendoza two points and two rebounds, Layla Glanz four rebounds, and Addison Armstrong five rebounds.
The B-team won 35-5. Keylen Quezada had 10 points and seven steals, Laisha Loya nine points and six steals, Clara Oestman four points and three rebounds, Kena Serl four points and seven rebounds, Glanz two points and four steals, Mendoza seven rebounds, Riley Thomson two points, Emory McClaran two points and four rebounds, and Addie Baucke two points and five rebounds.
The C and D teams combined to play a two-quarter game, winning 13-6. Olivia Ruiz had six points and three steals, Clara Oestman five points, six rebounds, four assists and five steals, Mayrin Sanchez two points, Izzy Oestman two steals, Haley Smith one rebound, Sofia Fuentes one rebound, and Aileen Olivas three rebounds.
YMS played Wray last Thursday. The A-team won 30-22. Sheffield had 13 points, five rebounds and six steals, Nighswonger 10 points, nine rebounds and seven steals, Loya two points and six steals, Achtonn Neill two points, Black two points and seven steals, Glanz three rebounds, and Armstrong one point and one rebound.
The B-team won 34-14. Loya had 13 points and six steals, Quezada eight points and seven steals, Glanz six points, four rebounds and five steals, Serl four points and two rebounds, Mendoza three points and four rebounds, McClaran two rebounds and Baucke two rebounds.
