Yuma Bill Kalb Invitational is Monday

Yuma High School’s track and field team will be home again early next week.

The Outlaws will be hosting the Yuma Bill Kalb Invitational on Monday, the second home meet of the season following last month’s Yuma Early Qualifier.

Yuma’s track athletes will be at the Eaton Reds Invitational on Saturday prior prior to Monday’s meet.

They competed in the big University Bulldogs Invitational in Greeley last Saturday.

Yuma’s girls scored 25 points to finish 10th in the team standings. There were nearly 30 schools at the meet.

The 4-by-200 relay team of Chloe Smith, Carolina Ross, Emory McClaran and Layla Glanz finished second in 1 minute, 51.88 seconds. The same foursome placed seventh in the 4-by-100 relay in 53.58 seconds.

Smith cleared 9-foot-2 to place second in the pole vault. Taryn Mekelburg was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 30-6. Braylynn Armstrong was eighth in the 300-meter hurdles in 53.91 seconds, and Ross long jumped 14-10 to place eighth.

The boys finished tied with Otis for 15th with 18 points.

Cannon Beaver placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 17-7. Dallas Brunk was seventh in the 300 hurdles in 46.09 seconds, and eighth in the 110 hurdles in 19.62 points.

More of the boys points came in the relays.

The 4-by-100 team of Brodie Castillo, Manuel Varela, Jonathan Thomson and Alan Flores was third in 45.47 seconds. The same foursome was fourth in the 4-by-200 relay in 1:34.77.
