Yuma County has teamed up with local associations and entities to present Yuma County Ag Appreciation Week, March 20-27.
The Yuma County Board of Commissioners have passed a proclamation declaring it, and the Yuma City Council was to vote on a similar proclamation during its meeting this past Tuesday night.
The Ag Week is largely in response to Governor Jared Polis again declaring a “meat out day” in Colorado.
One of the many activities is a coloring contest sponsored by OWN Resources. The age categories are 2-4, 5-8, 9-15 and 16 and above. Coloring pages are available at Yuma City Hall, Wray City Hall, Eckley Town Hall, Grassroots Community Center and the Yuma County Commissioners Office. The coloring pages are due back no later than 4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 24. Winners will be announced Friday, March 25, on the Yuma County, Colorado Facebook page.
“Wear Green” is the theme on Wednesday, March 23 to show support for Yuma County Agriculture. Post your pictures to the county’s Facebook page with the hashtag #TheFutureIsAg.
Three presentations of “The Future of Water in Yuma County” will take place next week. The Republican River Water Conservation District has partnered with Grassroots Community Center, the City of Wray and the Yuma County Commissioners to make the presentations.
It will be an informative presentation and community conversation surrounding the future of water in Yuma County, and the current work and impacts surrounding compliance with the Republican River Compact.
There will be a presentation in the WRAC Meeting Room in Wray on Tuesday, March 22, from 9 to 11 a.m., then later in the day at the Yuma County Fairgrounds in Yuma from 1 to 3 p.m. The third presentation is Wednesday, March 23, from 1 to 3 p.m at the Grassroots Community Center in Joes.
